Live@LOT: Public Circuit / Panik Deluxe
Public Circuit
If electronic music is sacred theology, New York City band Public Circuit are the pagan heretics driving the genre forward with an indomitable will to live. After joining forces in early 2023, Ethan Biamont, Sean Holloway and Nelson Fisher will release their second album Modern Church on September 12 via à La Carte Records. On Modern Church, NYC trio Public Circuit dismantle and reassemble post-punk with surgical precision. Gone is any pretense of retro revivalism—what remains is something sharper, darker and entirely their own. With a newfound sense of collaboration amongst all three members, this is a record that dances in the flicker of candlelight and fluorescent glare alike, channeling an austere pulse of angular electronic instrumentation, and raw percussive rhythms all bathed with the high-gloss ache of sophist-ipop into a sound that’s equal parts ritual and revolution. Following the release of their debut album in 2024, the band took Lamb to the road with sold-out shows across 30 states including festival performances at New Colossus, Hopscotch and MACROCK. They’ll continue to spread their gospel this coming Fall in both the US and Europe.
Panik Deluxe
Overcome by rage and sunk in resignation, Panik Deluxe creates a monument to melancholy with her sound, building musical bridges between alternative and darkwave, techno and pop. The Viennese artist blends a gloomy extravagance reminiscent of a remix of the Twilight soundtrack, building from cynical indifference to rage and indiscriminate longing. "Tonight I'll bark and bite you / Tomorrow I'll withhold." Panik Deluxe's music is simultaneously exuberantly dramatic and sleekly minimalist, calmly losing its nerve and deafening without having to raise its voice.
